    DCTF's 2 Friesian Driving Sport Mares Nailed it in 2017!  
   This year was Isobel Ypkje van het Kasteel's year to impress her competition, and did she ever! There was not an event where Isobel and trainer Suzy Stafford did not shine, and they did a little bit of everything:  ADS Carriage Pleasure Driving Shows and CDEs, USEF/IFSHA Breed shows, FHANA keuring, where Isobel was declared the "Day Champion" from more than 50 horses, and the FHANA Mare Show, where her trot was absoultely phenominal.
   Sjaantje had shown extensively in 2016, was bred in the spring of 2017, so was shown lightly, letting my passion for driven dressage choose which shows we attended and which classes we entered. By the time Worlds rolled around in October, Sjaantje was 5 months into her pregnancy and showing with a baby belly.
   I thrive on first time experiences and 2017 presented yet another when both horses competed against each other--Isobel and trainer Suzy Stafford challenging Sjaantje and myself with Suzy usually besting me;-) Although it was kind of neat finishing 1 - 2 in our classes at the Buckeye Baroque, I really didn't like Sjaantje placing behind Isobel!
    Below is a listing of their events this year along with class placings and commemorative photos.  My favorite 2017 show was Brandywine's for its nostalgic honor of being my first ADS show back in 2011, while the show that I am so very thankful to have attended was internationally-recognized Walnut Hill, having recently found out that after 46 years, the 2017 show was their last.
